I am 25 and I want to get botox to prevent aging, so that means I would be taking it for the rest of my life....does anyone know of a good place to go or is it a bad idea?

i have heard alot of bad things about botox recently. i mean when you deal with a toxin of that magnitude i just dont think its worth the risk... just take care of your skin wear sunscreen wear sunglasses and age gracefully...

to be specific botox is a toxing specifically clostridium botulinum which is the toxin that causes botulism in large doses. botox causes controled weakening of muscles surrounding the area that it is injected into for aprox 3 months. this causes wrinkles and some lines to look less noticable. But there are alot of side effects if the dr doesnt know what he is doing.

I work for a dermatologist sometimes and usually people don't start getting botox until they are about 30 years old. My recommendation is for you to meet with a Dermatologist him or herself and make sure that they are the one who does the procedure.. not an assistant ... not a nurse. Ask them any questions that you have. They are the ones who know the most and have the answers.

i think botox is the dumbest thing EVER!! you can tell when people have gotten it done. the look rediclous. i would never get it. yea lets get a muscle paralyzer injected into our skin!! not.

it is a bit obvious when it's been done, especially for years. it gives an almost mask-like illusion that looks unnatural. it is still a good alternative for some people, though, as we all age and wrinkle differently. a derm is the best person to help you make that decision. please look into less invasive treatment first considering your age. laser resurfacing and photomodulation therapy can offer pretty dramatic results. i'm fourty two and i use both of these at different times depending on several factors that i discuss with my technician. there is a bed with photomodulation built in i think. the name of it escapes me now. i know it's a bit less expensive than a visit to your derm for a course of treatment. Again, if you're going for long term maintenance starting at such a young age you really should try something less physically altering to parts other than your skin.
